Gujarat under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has adjudged the best performing state in National Startup Ranking-2019 by the Government of India Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) declared today, maintaining the top slot for the second successive year among all states. Gujarat continues to live up to the favorite state unique identity for industrial entrepreneurship and industriousness of the youth, encouraged by Gujarat Government.
Gujarat under the guidance of Rupani provided wide opportunity to the youth and students to successfully implement the Students Startup and Innovation Policy, having won earlier Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration in 2017, and best performing state for implementing Startup India Programme in 2018, repeating the feat in 2019, too. The Startup India Ranking is given on the basis of seven reforms areas and 30-odd action points like institutional support, easing compliance, relaxation in public procurement norms, incubation support, seed funding support, venture funding and in awareness and outreach, Gujarat topping in most of the criteria.
Rupani has announced many incentives in the new Gujarat Industrial Policy-2020 extending assistance in seed support, sustenance allowance, skill development and social impact. Gujarat has so far registered over 1,500 startups under Scheme for Assistance for Startup-Innovation with Rs.30-crore assistance to over 250 startups, Rs.2-crore for over 25 IT and ITES startups and six incubators and 800 student startups with the support of over 130 universities and colleges in the state. Gujarat Government has created a collaborative platform for startups, incubators and investors through an ecosystem to be really helpful to the entrepreneur.
